So... what do I want to say about myself? As little as possible would be good but, as I always read the biog' page on other people's web sites, it would be unfair of me not to put up a few details about me and my career to date.

I was born in 1964 in Bournemouth which is a town of some 163,000 inhabitants on the South Coast of England. I grew up there and, after working in a camera store for just over a year, went to study an HND in Advertising and Editorial Photography at Medway College of Design in Kent (now the Kent Institute). I graduated from college in June 1986 and moved to London.

I freelanced for a while before joining with two college friends to start our own small agency in a basement in Central London in April 1987. Work started to pick up and before long I was shooting for a wide variety of magazines and newspapers.

I really enjoyed my time at the agency, gaining an enormous amount of experience in what seemed like a very short space in time.

January 1994 was a big month in my career. I left the agency and joined the staff at the Times Supplements (now TSL Education). In November 1998 after shooting thousands of rolls of colour negative and transparency film and endless hours with various scanners and Macs my first digital camera (Kodak DCS520) arrived and I have really enjoyed the transition. I am on the road most of the time, although I am based at our office in Holborn - right in the heart of London.

It's an exciting time to be a photographer with new challenges being presented every month and I am on record as saying that I am a very lucky man to be doing what I do.

I have always added an email link on this site since it was first published in February 2000. I am always happy to get emails from people who want to say hello or ask brief questions. What I CANNOT do is is give portfolio criticism, follow links to people's web sites or get involved in long exchanges. I get well over 100 emails each month from this site and sometimes half of those carry requests for me to look at pictures. I am really sorry... I just don't have the time to get into that.

Because links get harvested by spammers, I'm afraid that there isn't a simple click through link on the site... you are going to have to do a bit of work and type the email address for yourself.
