We started out in the digital suite with a forty minute presentation giving the people on the course an overview of my attitude to the way I work. I have a couple of bits of advice that I always give and then I go through what I hope to achieve during the day.
We then moved off to a local green space and went through a series of ideas for shooting pictures of a member of the Photofusion staff who acted as our model for the day. We used two different light modifiers (shoot through umbrella above and a medium sized soft box) on the Elinchrom Ranger Quadra kit and went through half a dozen scenarios in the park either side of lunch.
The group that I was working with were full of good ideas and I can honestly say that they came up with suggestions that made me quite jealous! After a few hours in the park we went back to Photofusion and continued the day in a much more urban location in central Brixton. We finally got to the end of a round dozen set-ups before going back to the digital suite to review everything that had been shot.
It was a great day and I have spent a while going through the pictures and making a representative edit of them to pass on to the eight photographers who came along so that they could remember more accurately what we had done.
This should hopefully be the first of a short series of one day location lighting seminars that I'm doing with Photofusion. If you'd like to come along, get in touch with them and put your name down.
