The British Press Photographers' Association was formed in 1984 to promte and inspire the highest ethical, technical and creative standards from with the industry. Since 2003 the Association has published three books, held several gallery exhibitions and produced a series of web based collaborative projects. The site allows visitors to view the work of members, search for freelance photographers by postal code and keep up with the work of the BPPA.
The Times Educational Supplement is the largest of the titles that I work for. It is the main title for everyone involved in the world of schools and colleges. This link takes you to the web version of the paper.
This link takes you to the web version of the Times Higher Education Supplement which is the premier newspaper for the University sector throughout Europe.
Editorial Photographers UK is the website of a professional discussion group of photographers. The site now has a section called "The Curve" which has a number of articles about the business of photography written by experienced photographers (as well as me!!!)
Phil Askey's DP Review is my favourite site for reviews of digital cameras and peripherals. It also has an excellent "Learn" section which has a few articles by me.
Rob Galbraith is a hugely experienced digital news photographer who has been publishing his excellent site for a few years. This site is targeted at professional news photographers.
John Lehmann has published this excellent website about location lighting based on his 12 years experience as a working and very creative news photographer.
Baltimore Sun staff photographer, David Hobby has joined the growing number of professional news photographers who are prepared to share some of their techniques. His new site has a very well explained series of lighting ideas using hot shoe style flash units.
Jez Coulson and I met at Medway College of Design in 1984. In the two years we spent on our HND photography course we became great friends and learned to respect each other's work. I thought that he was amongst the best photographers that I had ever met then, and I haven't changed my mind about him. His blog features some interesting stuff and it has links to his more mainstream work too.
Press-Photos.com is an amazing resource for working news photographers that contains all sorts of (mostly UK) vital information as well as reviews and opinions from it's owwner, Paul Burgman. From this site you can also link to a no holds barred members discussion forum called f8 and be there.
Photo quotes is an amazing collection of quaotations from photographers and about photography. The list of names on the home page reads like a "Who's Who" of world photography and also features a few mere mortals like me! A great place to spend a few minutes or a spare hour or two browsing.
Yet another plug for a website with some content from me!!! But more importantly Uwe Steinmuller's site targeted at nature, wildlife and landscape photography with a digital emphasis has grown into a valuable and interesting resource.
The website of Canadian news photographer Nick Didlick is one of my favourites. His skill as a news photographer with flash and ambient light is matched by his skill as a web site designer. He has used digital cameras for longer than most people and it shows.
